Vehicle Presentation Honors Veteran Pedro Perez at PPG Conference
On April 13, 2026, at the Omni PGA Resort in Frisco, Texas, we had the honor of partnering with the National Auto Body Council through the NABC Recycled Rides program to present a life-changing vehicle to U.S. Marine Corps veteran Pedro Perez.
Pedro served our country from 2007 to 2011, completing two deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. After returning home, he continued his service as a police officer in Donna, Texas. In 2013, Pedro was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in his bones and lungs, leading to the difficult decision to undergo surgery that resulted in the removal of his leg and part of his pelvis.
More than a decade later, Pedro continues to live with incredible strength and resilience. Using crutches, a wheelchair, and a powerchair, he refuses to let his circumstances define him. Instead, he remains focused on staying strong, both physically and mentally, while holding onto the passions that bring him peace, especially time spent outdoors.
Through this gifting, we were proud to help present Pedro with a 2020 4x4 GMC Sierra equipped with an ANT Lift. This was all made possible through the NABC Recycled Rides program. This vehicle was generously supported by Allstate, repaired and refurbished by Gerber Collision and Glass, with adaptive modifications funded by the Freedom Mobility Foundation and completed by MobilityWorks. We also want to extend a sincere thank you to American Airlines for flying Pedro to be part of this special moment.
This vehicle will make a meaningful difference in Pedro’s everyday life by restoring independence, safety, and accessibility. For individuals navigating life as an amputee and wheelchair user, simple tasks like getting in and out of a vehicle can be physically demanding. This truck removes that barrier, allowing Pedro to move through his day with greater ease and confidence.
Even more importantly, it allows him to reconnect with what he loves most. Pedro looks forward to taking his family on outdoor adventures such as, exploring national parks, camping, and fishing. He will also be using the truck to support work on their ranch, from hauling lumber to transporting supplies for livestock.
For Pedro, this truck is a turning point. It gives him the ability to move through life with more ease, spend time with his family doing what he loves, and get back to the places that bring him peace.
We are incredibly grateful to our partners and everyone involved in making this moment possible. Together, we are able to continue changing lives and providing greater independence for those who have given so much in service to others.
